Pre-Trib problems
If the rapture takes place before the tribulation, then after the church has been raptured and taken to heaven, the remaining Tribulation believers :
… will have no opportunity to achieve a relationship called the “bride of Christ”, since the wedding is supposed to be happening in heaven while the 7 year tribulation is taking place on earth (unless Jesus has two weddings).
… will have no “indwelling” of the Spirit, since He was given to the church at Pentecost and the theory is that the Holy Spirit is removed from the earth just as the tribulation period begins, and with the removal of the Holy Spirit, also the church. All the benefits of the “comforter” (promised to the church in John 17) would not be available to them.
... will have to be witnesses without the gifts of the Spirit that were given to the church at Pentecost to empower her to go into all the world. The pretrib rapture is said to be a reversal of Pentecost, resulting in a 'taking out' of the Holy Spirit from this world.
… will not have much of the New Testament to rely on, since most of the NT was written specifically for the church.
… will be 'orphans' in the sense that “and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age” was said to the church. If Jesus is offering the same to the tribulation believers, there is no scripture promise saying so.
… will not be able to claim to be called children of God because this scripture was given to those who were being led by the Holy Spirit. Ro 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Without the Spirit of God leading, could they be called sons of God?
… will not be able to claim any of the wonderful news of the book of Hebrews. Hebrews tells us that, living under the new covenant, everything is “better” It would seem very unlikely that God would revert to a dispensation that is “worse”.
… will be children of God who are 'appointed to wrath'. God has said that His children are NOT appointed to wrath. 1Thesslonians 5:9 God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (note: in the pre-trib view the entire 7 year tribulation is called 'the Wrath of God')
Duplications Necessary in the Pretrib view.
2 Raptures – (one) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. I thess 4:16,17
(two) And the seventh angel sounded … The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth." Re 11:15-18 (note: For the dead to be able to be judged, they need to come back to life … that is a rapture.)
3 resurrections (1) First Thess 4:16,17, (2)Rev 11:18, (3) Rev 20:5.
3 judgments (1) Second Corinthians 5:8,9. (2) Rev 11:18. (3) Rev 21:11,12.
2 marriages (1) Matthew 25:1 ¶ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Most pretrib teachers say this happens at the rapture. (2) Rev 19:7 --- at the same time as the judgment of the Great Whore is happening on earth there is a marriage supper happening in heaven, at the very end of the tribulation.
giving of rewards 2 times 2 Corinthians 5:10 and Revelations 11:18
Two “last” trumpets. (1) First Corinthians 15:51,52. (2) Revelation 11:18
