Globalism

In reading the Revelation account of the end times, the term ‘globalism’ comes to mind quite readily.  The ‘beast’ is given authority for 42 months and his influence is felt around the globe.  The creation of a ‘mark’, the enforced ‘worship’ of the beast will have a global effect.
Globalism is not new.  Human Globalism is not from God.
Let’s look at globalism from its very beginning.
- Antediluvian - There is not much in the way of detail of pre-flood culture and government.  We are given these descriptive words,  People were 'Evil continually'. During that time there were 'Men of Renown' (mighty men, heroes)
If there was a 'one-world' hero, we are not told.
- The First (perhaps second) attempt at globalism is in Gen 11:1-9, The tower of babel
1 ¶  At one time the whole earth had the same language and vocabulary.
2  As people migrated from the east, they found a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there.
3  They said to each other, “Come, let us make oven-fired bricks.” They had brick for stone and asphalt for mortar.
4  And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky. Let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise, we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
5 ¶  Then the LORD came down to look over the city and the tower that the men were building.
6  The LORD said, “If, as one people all having the same language, they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
7  Come, let Us go down there and confuse their language so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”
8  So the LORD scattered them from there over the face of the whole earth, and they stopped building the city.
9  Therefore its name is called Babylon, for there the LORD confused the language of the whole earth, and from there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

The person who headed this whole movement up was a man called Nimrod.  He was a son of Cush, who was a son of Ham … one of Noah’s three sons.  That makes Noah the great-grandfather.  And Noah was still alive and well.
Nimrod is called a great hunter.  According to all the information given about him, he was not simply a hunter of venison, but seemed to be a hunter of people.  A politician.
   The previous chapter gives these details;
Genesis 10:8 - 12
8  Cush fathered Nimrod, who was the first powerful man on earth.
9  He was a powerful hunter in the sight of the LORD. That is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a powerful hunter in the sight of the LORD.”
10  His kingdom started with Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11  From that land he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, Calah,
12  and Resen, between Nineveh and the great city, Calah.

(Holman translation)
What an ambitious person.  Some commentators call him - The First global tyrant
Can we place the blame of his being ‘totally anti-God’ on his own shoulders?  I think not. Satan is the driving force between any anti-God movements.
   And God dealt with it.
Nimrod's rise to power was at the building of the tower.  The area he did it was called Babylon.
Years later: In the city of Babylon - Nebuchadnezzar, is seen as king of the known world.
During the time when He had taken the Jews captive, he had a dream.
Daniel 2:24 - 45
4 ¶  Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had assigned to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He came and said to him, “Don’t kill the wise men of Babylon! Bring me before the king, and I will give him the interpretation.”
25  Then Arioch quickly brought Daniel before the king and said to him, “I have found a man among the Judean exiles who can let the king know the interpretation.”
26  The king said in reply to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to tell me the dream I had and its interpretation?”
27  Daniel answered the king: “No wise man, medium, diviner-priest, or astrologer is able to make known to the king the mystery he asked about.
28  But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has let King Nebuchadnezzar know what will happen in the last days. Your dream and the visions /that came into/ your mind /as you lay/ in bed were these:
29  Your Majesty, while you were in your bed, thoughts came /to your mind/ about what will happen in the future. The revealer of mysteries has let you know what will happen.
30  As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but in order that the interpretation might be made known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.
31 ¶  “My king, as you were watching, a colossal statue appeared. That statue, tall and dazzling, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was terrifying.
32  The head of the statue was pure gold, its chest and arms were silver, its stomach and thighs were bronze,
33  its legs were iron, and its feet were partly iron and partly fired clay.
34  As you were watching, a stone broke off without a hand touching it, struck the statue on its feet of iron and fired clay, and crushed them.
35  Then the iron, the fired clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were shattered and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
36  “This was the dream; now we will tell the king its interpretation.
37  Your Majesty, you are king of kings. The God of heaven has given you sovereignty, power, strength, and glory.
38  Wherever people live--or wild animals, or birds of the air--He has handed them over to you and made you ruler over them all. You are the head of gold.
39  “After you, there will arise another kingdom, inferior to yours, and then another, a third kingdom, of bronze, which will rule the whole earth.
40  A fourth kingdom will be as strong as iron; for iron crushes and shatters everything, and like iron that smashes, it will crush and smash all the others.
41  You saw the feet and toes, partly of a potter’s fired clay and partly of iron--it will be a divided kingdom, though some of the strength of iron will be in it. You saw the iron mixed with clay,
42  and that the toes of the feet were part iron and part fired clay--part of the kingdom will be strong, and part will be brittle.
43  You saw the iron mixed with clay--the peoples will mix with one another but will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with fired clay.
44  “In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and this kingdom will not be left to another people. It will crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself endure forever.
45  You saw a stone break off from the mountain without a hand touching it, and it crushed the iron, bronze, fired clay, silver, and gold. The great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation certain.”

The statue of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.
1- Head of Gold  Babylon
2- Arms   - medo persia
3- Bronze hips - Greece
4- Legs of represent Rome
5- Feet and toes … Where we are today including the future
The large rock is God (Jesus), who will crush world government.

  Globalism
What will this look like?
Many of the following items you are likely familiar with.
- The New world order
- One world government
- A global currency
- Central bank
- the End of national sovereignty
- Mandatory vaccines
- Universal basic income
- Microchipping of citizens
- The end of fossil fuel
This is the agenda we began hearing about in 21, with an objective of having it mostly implemented by 30.
Knowingly or unknowingly the world follows the evil prince and  ‘authority’ of the air.
According to Daniel there will be one more attempt for a global power.
As globalization becomes the goal of leaders and citizens, as these individual elements become ‘centralized/globalized’ some guru may present himself as the one to bring it all together smoothly.
If the one who confirms a covenant with the Jews is this same person, he would be using the first three and one half years to establish himself as a global leader, and then as THE global leader.  This could involve a peaceful, convincing preaching of his policy directions, and then it could involve the use of force for those who are not complying.

Emerging of a One World Leader
Revelation 13.5 Describes the ‘beast’ as having authority for the final 42 months of the tribulation.
The prior 42 months or three and a half  years there is no mention of the beast at all.
When the beast appears on the scene he appears to enter and immediately exerts a power that is felt worldwide.
2Th 2:7  For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.
Globalism is on Satan’s agenda.  He never stops working on it.
At one point nothing will stand in his way.
And as we see the day approaching we need to…
Lu 12:35  "Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning
Peter adds,   Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.
2Pe 3:14
The climax of history
Christianity is true globalism.  Our earthly citizenships are (should be) less than secondary.  Members of the body of Christ exist all around the globe.  Our citizenship is in heaven.  Until the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of Jesus Christ, we remain visitors … more than that, ambassadors. It is our place to represent and expand the members of God’s coming kingdom.
Revelation completes the story begun by Daniel and we will look at that in future sessions.
Final Globalism will be under Christ, ruling from Jerusalem.
Remembering these facts can give as balance and assurance as the day approaches:
2Co 4:4  In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
This was us… Eph 2.2b …you once walked following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience --
But …  1Jo 4:4 ¶  Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
And now … 1Jo 5:19  We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
